Tax Reform

Tax Reform Proposals Should Continue to Support Small Businesses and Investment

The House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee each released proposals to reform costy recovery and tax accounting rules as part of a comprehensive effort to overhaul the Tax Code. Those proposals call for the repeal of Section 1031 of the Tax Code. Hoteliers support the goal to simplify  and update the Tax Code, and AAHOA appreciates and supports the easing of tax burdens on small businesses. Yet AAHOA supports the preservation of the I.R.C Section 1031, Like-Kind Exchanges Rules as a means to expand investment opportunities and grow small businesses.
